RIDGEBACK TRUST INC.

Breaking the chain of indiscriminate breeding

Ridgeback Trust, Inc was started in 1998 to promote the well being of purebred Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization our mission is to prevent the indiscriminant breeding of Rhodesian Ridgebacks. We help at-risk Ridgebacks from many sources including pet shops, private owners, estate sales and commercial breeders. Dogs purchased by RTI are placed into the care of rescue organizations for needed veterinary care including neutering, fostering and placement into permanent homes as loving family pets. Over the past 8 years we have saved over 500 Rhodesian Ridgebacks from the chains of indiscriminate breeding. As an all-volunteer organization we depend on the generosity of individual donors and sales of our exclusive merchandise.

"CHECKMATE"

"CHECKMATE" - 1995. The description of this print is a bit more complicated as there is so much going on in the artwork.

A female lion has a female Ridgeback down, ready to kill her, but a male Ridgeback is trying to get the lion's attention away from the other dog.

There's another female lion up in a tree getting ready to pounce on the male Ridgeback.

You, the viewer, are part of the scene. You're a hunter, staring down the barrel of a shotgun, you see the cross hairs, you are aiming at the lion that is about to kill your dogs.

You're hoping that you'll have time to kill the other lion in the tree, as well, or scare it away with the blast of your gun.

Notice the hunter off in the distance with his shotgun leveled ready to shoot. What is he aiming at? The same cat you say, or the one up in the tree? Not so!

Notice the claw over to the right just outside the circle?

That's another lion getting ready to kill you only you don't see it, because all you can see is what's in the scope of your gun. But, the other hunter sees it and is aiming his gun at that cat to save your life.
